Join us for the Humanitarian Innovation Forum in Nairobi, Kenya, between 11 – 13 February 2025.

The Forum will bring together diverse actors to collaborate on transformative solutions to the key challenges facing humanitarian innovation in meeting today’s needs and anticipating tomorrow’s. Innovators, humanitarian decision-makers, and funders will develop shared ambitions, actionable commitments, and spark connections that endure beyond the event.
 
About the Forum
 

The Forum offers a rare chance to come together and delve into some of the foundational questions of innovation in humanitarian action.

What does the future look like for innovation? What systems are needed to ensure innovation fulfils its potential?

With a format designed for deep engagement and the generation of practical outcomes, we will propel humanitarian innovation forward together. We will lay the groundwork for a collective movement within the sector, dedicated to building a better future model that focuses not only on what we innovate, but also on why and how we do it.

In the run-up to the Forum, we’ll host collaborative online sessions to expand participation, explore each topic in depth, and use the conversations to help shape the event agenda.

Forum Themes
 

Through wide consultation with humanitarian innovation stakeholders, four key themes have emerged as the most pressing topics for collective exploration among a diverse, global range of innovation actors:
Localisation and Power Dynamics

We will focus on how to transfer innovation ownership from global to local actors, proposing practical and feasible strategies to shift power.
The Right Problems

We will create the space to discuss and build consensus on the role of innovation in reimagining humanitarian action and explore how different actors can and must contribute to a more coherent ecosystem.
The Boring Revolution

We will delve into the often-overlooked impact of operational challenges on innovation, exploring how processes such as procurement, compliance, and MEAL can support effective innovation.
From Pilot to Practice

We will address the transition from proof-of-concept to sustainable implementation and explore practical solutions to the problem of financing for scale.

The Forum will also showcase a range of impactful innovations ready for adoption, as well as a suite of new evidence and tools for innovation management.
